Mike and Sammy are a husband and wife team dedicated to revolutionizing how vocabulary and English orthography instruction is done in middle and high school classrooms. They each love hanging out with their three little kids, fitness, board games, and sports.
Mike
Mike Kula is a High School Language Arts teacher of 16 years. He is education leader in vocabulary and English orthography instruction and has presented at numerous literacy and professional development conferences. He got his start in this area several years ago with a simple curiosity of why some English words don't align with their pronunciations, and he learned from Sammy that the English language does, in fact, make perfect sense.
Sammy
Dr. Sammy Kula is a High School Intervention Specialist primarily focused on reading instruction. She is Orton-Gillingham certified and wrote her dissertation on the impact of morphology instruction in Biology classrooms on students with dyslexia. These methods all began with her creating from the ground up individualized reading classes for students with special needs.
